The Assessor is responsible for the Assessment of all property in our County. This includes all land and structures. Taxpayers are encouraged to remember that January 1, 2016 going forward is the assessment date, and taxes are always a year behind. Each year the Assessor will send out a Notice of Assessment. This Notice will provide the taxpayer with valuable information. The dates on the Notice are time sensitive so please be sure to read all the fine print. Property cards can be obtained from the GIS link at the Vermillion County web site, or we will be happy to send you a copy of your assessment record card.
For the January 1st Assessment date, we will mail a Notice of Assessment. If you believe your assessment is higher than market value, you may file an appeal, in writing, within 45 days of this notice.
