2020 Coroner of the Year
The Association of Indiana Counties President, Anton Neff, presented the outstanding County Officials 2020 Awards at the AIC’s virtual conference on 9/20/2020.
Neff said, these individuals have distinguished themselves in office and have made particular contributions to their affiliate associations and the AIC. These awards are decided by each affiliate association. They review the nominations of those who have provided leadership, effectiveness, and other contributions to county government.
The 2020 Coroner of the year is Roger Lewis of Vermillion County.
Roger has served as Coroner since 2013 and is currently completing his second term. He has worked under the previous three coroners as a deputy coroner and gained over 20 years of knowledge and experience. He is a member of the Indiana State Coroners training board, appointed by then-Governor and current Vice President Mike Pence. He has been an active member of the Indiana State Coroners Association, serving as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and President. Roger has spent the better part of 30 years as a volunteer and community servant for Vermillion County, including as an EMT, Reserve Deputy, Town Marshall of Cayuga, and over 25 years as a member of the Cayuga Volunteer Fire Department. He served 4 years on the Cayuga Town Board and 8 ½ years on the North Vermillion School Board.
