Notice of Public Hearing on Proposed Temporary Strategic Moratorium Ordinance for Data Centers

Notice is hereby given that the Vermillion County Area Plan Commission, on the 22nd of September 2026 at 6:00pm will hold a public hearing on a proposed Temporary Strategic Moratorium Ordinance applicable to Data Centers. This ordinance would disallow data center applications and provide the minimum time necessary to research, conduct impact analysis, draft regulations and adopt them, if found to be necessary, prior to potential applications for such projects. This public hearing will be held at the Vermillion County Courthouse, 255 S Main St., Newport, IN. 47966. The draft ordinance will be available for public review and comment by or on September 11, 2026 at 9:00am at the below address and website. If you are unable to attend or otherwise wish to provide written comment, please submit them to the Area Plan Commission at the address below prior to 3:00pm on September 22nd. The proposed ordinance would apply to all unincorporated lands within Vermillion County, Indiana.
